Accepting submissions from children aged 0 to elementary school age, of “hummed songs”!
Winning entries will be featured in ▼Akira Miyagawa’s Setagaya Music Research Institute #17, “Every Child Is a Genius!” (to be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025), while the Grand Prize piece will be performed by professional musicians! We look forward to your submissions!

You find yourself humming when you are happy or having fun. Everyone made up songs they hummed when they were children. Yes! That’s what’s important. It could be the beginning of music composition. That’s why we are asking for submissions of children’s hummed songs from the general public, in the hope of discovering the musical genius of the future. It could be the rhythmical sound of a crying baby, a melody hummed by a child while drawing pictures by themselves, a song sung in the bathroom, or even a full song written down on sheet music. Anyone of elementary school age or below can apply. But be sure it is an original melody. Rearranged versions of existing songs will not be accepted.
All entries will be listened to carefully by our staff and the composer, Akira Miyagawa (Director), to try and catch a glimpse of life in everyone’s homes through their melodies.
Ten works will be carefully selected, and awarded wonderful prizes during the event, while the work of the Grand Prize winner will be arranged by Director Akira Miyagawa and performed by a professional singer.

*Includes videos from the past if the child was of eligible age at the time of filming
– Songs may or may not include lyrics
– They must be original, and not rearrangements of existing songs★ The people chosen will be contacted by staff
