This year’s Setagaya Junior Orchestra (SJO) won the 17th Khachaturian International Competition, and Daichi Deguchi, currently the most acclaimed young conductor, was invited to take on the challenges of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5! Speaking of this symphony, it is a piece with many highlights for each instrument, and the horn solo at the start of the second movement is particularly impressive. This concert has been produced through repeated rehearsals and an approach unique to SJO, a large ensemble, of conducting auditions with eight horn players to select the soloist!
